The city is a famous for its beaches and colonial monuments and ancient temples. The famous Marina beach is 13 km long. It is the second largest beach in the world. One of the famous landmarks of the city is the Fort of St. George, built in 1654. The fort has a six-meter tall wall, reflecting the power of British at that time.
